A DIAMOND’S CUT HAS THE GREATEST IMPACT ON ITS SPARKLE
Engagement ring diamond cuts go from poor to excellent (or “ideal”, depending on which grading agency), representing the proportions of a diamond which help the light reflect through it and back at your eye. The best cut has the highest grade of polish and symmetry and allows nearly all the light that enters the diamond to reflect back. Simply put: the diamond shouldn’t have too shallow or too deep a cut, or it won’t reflect the light properly and won’t be very sparkly.
As much as you try to learn about diamond cuts online, and all the technical aspects of light performance, brilliance, fire, polish and symmetry of a diamond, nothing will replace a visit to the Livia Diamonds studio and seeing the diamond brilliance with your own eyes.
The jeweller is not the one grading the diamond. There are standard grading reports done by many agencies around the world. Some are more reliable than others. It’s important to have a jeweller you can trust that will help you decide what diamond is right for you, because grading goes beyond the 4Cs.
